Having just returned from the North Atlantic Seafood Forum (NASF) in Bergen, our team is once again struck by the dramatic pace of technological evolution in salmon farming. The industry continues to innovate at a remarkable rate, developing sophisticated solutions to meet the formidable new challenges posed by climate change.
This wave of progress is overwhelmingly driven by Norwegian companies. Seafood companies delivered 13% returns to investors on the Oslo exchange last year, so there is no shortage of enthusiasm for investment in innovation. The new frontier is sending fish underwater and offshore. Countries with aquaculture would be well advised to keep abreast of the fast changing landscape in Norway. That’s something we do!
Many of these changes will be documented in the forthcoming Land-based Aquaculture Report. RAS has been the key underpinning technology to all aquaculture systems. We compare on growing systems with all of the new technologies now in play. We also show what post smolt production is doing to overall salmon production. And we will also provide an updated forecast on what land-based systems will provide in salmon tonnage, drawing on several years of data.
